Name: Jonathan "Johnny" Joestar
Canon: Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run
Canon Point: Very end of the series, before he loads onto the ship and bids America adieu
Age: 19
Background: wikia
Personality: Johnny started his life as a timid nice boy who showed the ability to observe and read the motions of a horse at a young age. It's because of this ability that his own father considered him a horse riding genius, but still was rather strict and harsh towards him while showing favourtism to his older brother. Despite this Johnny was determined to do his best for his father, and also idolised his brother up until what he felt was karma caught up to him. Being the kind boy he was, he couldn't bare to kill a wild mouse he'd adopted after his father had instructed him to do as punishment. It was with the guidance of his older brother did he opt to release it into the nearby woods instead, and after several years Johnny believed it was that same mouse that showed up when his brother was riding his horse that got spooked and threw him thus killing the older brother.
Believing that this was something that was his fault Johnny carried that guilt believing that any bad thing that happened to him was well-deserved and that he should've been the one to die instead. Eventually Johnny did grow to be a well-established jockey in his own right but still somehow never seemed to gained the respect of his father because of his inability to ever beat Diego Brando on the track. This came to a head when the teen attempted to use his brother's old riding boots which resulted in an argument where his father stated that god had taken the wrong son and disowned him. The shock of being told something he'd always felt caused him to shut himself off and take on a facade of conceitedness.
It was this conceitedness that cost Johnny everything he had, being out with a girl he used his influence to have a boy thrown out of line for a popular play only to be shot by that boy. The shot going through his spine had paralyzed him, costing Johnny his jockey career and all the affluent friends that his former position of glory had gained him. More than that, being cast aside so easily only fed into the feelings of rejection and uselessness. Through his depression he had little concern over living or dying, having lost anything he can take comfort in, it's only when he happened to meet Gyro did hope begin to spark that he might be able to gain use of his legs once more.
Their first encounter was Johnny witnessing the effects of Gyro's spin, because he was determined that this is something that would grant him the ability to use his legs again he began the first step of stubbornly trying to mount and ride a horse again. Despite the hopelessness of this endeavour he was determined that if he could enter the race and beat Gyro at least once that he would be worthy enough to gain his attention and possibly learn how to use the spin for his own benefit. Despite the fact that Johnny wasn't able to technically beat Gyro during the first part of the race his determination got him into a high ranking that still managed to get the man's attention enough to encourage him. It was with this meeting and Gyro being genuinely nice to him that improved Johnny's perspective slowly at first, but eventually it'll be enough to show a change in the young Joestar's personality beyond just getting by.
Going from someone that showed others a certain level of politeness while still having a cold demeanor, growing closer to Gyro eventually begins to make him more outwardly friendly despite the fact that his inherent selfishness had him caring only for himself and the executioner. It was through Johnny's determination and selfishness that he showed his ability to do anything he had to in order to collect pieces of the saint corpse once he'd seen how just the one piece was able to give his legs movement on their own. Time and again he has shown that his amoral stand helps him in not having any qualms over using violence or killing anyone who may get in his way.
Although Johnny seems to be, he's not completely amoral as he's unable to bring himself to willingly involve the innocent Lucille Steel in the matter of the saint corpse, or willingly giving up the pieces he'd come to acquire in an effort to save Gyro who had become his treasured friend by this point. Although Johnny starts to better himself as a person while on this journey minor setbacks tend to be enough to send him spiraling into rapidly losing what confidence he's built up and having bouts of overwhelming panic. It's Gyro's ability to give him assurance and optimism that tends to knock him out of these episodes. The influence he has over Johnny is constantly reflected, even in the stages of his own Stand evolving throughout the series, beginning with discovering the corpse to standing up for himself, symbolically cleansing himself from any of his guilt against Axel Ro and to the point of acquiring the corpse and regaining use of his legs.
Johnny starts off in this series as a depressed disconnected young man with no direction, it's through this journey does he find himself and takes away a new lease on life. It's with the help of Gyro Zeppeli that he learns that there's a lot of good to balance out the bad, and even at the end he gains the acceptance of his own father. While he still carries negative traits such as his selfishness, it extends to those that he loves and is shown later on in life to use that in order to sacrifice everything he has to protect them.
At the end, even after the loss of Gyro, the influences he was left with had him reflecting on the journey in a positive way rather than falling back into the depression he was easily prone to before.
Powers: Stand Ability
Johnny's stand ability, Tusk, utilizes the spin technique he learns from Gyro Zeppeli and also goes through four different stages of evolution. Each stage proves to be stronger and have different techniques from the last while still being based in using the spin ability. Tusk is first acquired when Johnny finds the first part of the saint corpse that happens to be the the left arm, and because of that this is where the use of his ability is based.
ACT I is when he acquires the first part of the saint corpse while in the devil's palm, the body part combines itself with Johnny's left hand and the ability manifests by being able to spin his fingernails and fire them like bullets. Said fingernails grow back in a matter of seconds. Gross.
ACT II, the second evolution of Tusk, comes about after having learned about the concept of the Golden Rectangle from Gyro. Johnny incorporates this new information of the spin ability when fighting against Sandman, the ability gives his nails stronger power while also developing yet another ability of the bullet holes following the target for a short amount of time. His fingernails don't grow back quite as quickly after using this evolutionary ability, more like minutes rather than seconds, but Johnny observes that if he munches herbs or drinks tea it speeds up the regrowth time. He's also shown using his spinning nails without firing them to do menial tasks such as brushing his teeth, grating cheese and wrapping spaghetti around his fingers. More gross.
ACT III bear with me on this one, because this is going to come about with the wise words of anime Jesus. Let's watch. The place? Gettysburg, and the act? Getting into a knock down drag out with Axel Ro and being faced with the deep crisis of all the guilt he has come to take on in his life. It's when he's in this life or death scenario is he visited by the apparition of anime Jesus himself who gives him words of advice to help him come up with the solution he needs in these trying times. And that solution was to shoot himself with a golden triangle-empowered nail. In doing this Johnny had created an infinitely small spinning point at the end of of the whole that becomes a special space that's like a wormhole through space, it exists as a pocket between dimensions that allows him to put his body or certain body parts within this space. It's often used to allow him to move his hand into and attack from a different or difficult angle. Nothing else can go within this space, anything that does will be cut. This evolution comes along with the assistance of anime Jesus allowing Johnny to find a renewed resolve in life.
ACT IV, also known as just when you thought this couldn't go any further off the rails. The final evolutionary form of Tusk uses the last lesson Gyro is able to impart to Johnny known as the Golden Spin, shit goes off the chain and I'm so sorry, at least this isn't King Crimson. ANYWAY, so the basic idea of ACT IV is that Johnny needs to use the golden spin in order to make an infinite spin, doing so requires the added movement of his horse while they're riding or in a pinch using one of Gyro's steel balls to substitute the needed motion in order to complete this action.
Horseriding
Johnny Joestar has been described as a genius jockey, being one of the favorites of the Steel Ball Run race. His skill allows him to ride across many types of terrain, and challenge even fellow genius jockey Diego Brando. Johnny possesses great knowledge of his horse Slow Dancer, notably its abilities and limits, being able to gauge what Slow Dancer will be capable of at any moment.
Intelligence
Johnny Joestar proves himself a competent Stand User, being able to use Tusk's abilities to the fullest. Johnny Joestar has occasionally used the terrain and his enemies own power against them, and was perceptive enough to quickly deduce Alternate Diego's time stopping power.
Marksmanship
When using Tusk, Johnny proves to possess great marksmanship, being able to hit little and/or moving targets, even if firing from odd angles and perspectives, such as when Tusk ACT3 separates his hand from his arm.

Following the principle of the Golden Spin, the energy wielded and embodied by Tusk ACT4 is infinite, allowing a wide array of otherwise impossible feats. One of the first abilities displayed by Tusk ACT4 is to be able to break through the dimensional barrier of Love Train and enter the space in which Valentine hides. Moreover, Tusk ACT4 defies the laws of gravity and therefore can move slightly and probably still influence Diego during the stopped time. The damage caused by the rotation is stated to be probably infinite as well. Like with ACT2 and ACT3, the energy of the Spin can persist inside objects even if Johnny misses a nail shot, and can be redirected toward a target.Basically, the abilities of ACT IV is more like a finishing move more than anything else. It's because of this the ability would not be fit to use on a regular basis if allowed. It's quite understandable that the abilities of ACT III and ACT IV might be too over the top for a game setting, especially when it's noted that ACT IV is one of the most powerful stands in the series due to the infinite energy behind it but is incredibly difficult to deploy as a trade-off.
If ACT4 touches someone, it imbues the target with an infinite spinning motion. Not only does part of the body separate to spin, everything down to individual cells spin on themselves, greatly distorting the shape of the victim. Eventually, the targets are disintegrated by the rotation and according to Diego, sent to another dimension. The Spin goes on forever and never leaves the person or their Stand, forcing them to return to the place where they were hit or its equivalent in each parallel dimension, thus Funny Valentine was not able to escape it despite switching dimensions and/or bodies, always returning to the underground location in which he was hit. If someone uses a tool, like a carriage, to get away from the location, the Spin will imbue itself into the tool and destroy it, forcing the target back into their location. The rotation won't end unless Johnny shoots the target with a similar rotation that is spinning in the opposite direction, resulting in the two of them canceling each other out.
Tusk ACT4 can also apply the Spin's energy in a more similar fashion to its previous forms and directly open a large space where there was none, as was shown in Johnny's battle with Diego Brando during which the Stand physically tears open a hole through the ground and enters the sewers with his horse.
The Spin is also transferable between objects, as the Diego Brando from another universe cut his leg off and threw it to Johnny, transferring the infinite rotation to its user. Another example is when Funny Valentine went into a passing car trying to escape from Tusk; the infinite rotation destroyed the car near-instantaneously and returned to Valentine.
